Worthing, The Surrounding Areas & Things To Do

Worthing is a large seaside town in historic West Sussex, nicknamed Sunny Worthing.

There are many historical places across Worthing and recently it has seen a lot of investment and development.

The vibrant town centre of Worthing has a lot to offer. There is a weekly market in Montague Street every Wednesday and also a regular Farmers' Market throughout the year in South Street Square and Montague Place.

Looking For A Coffee?

There are many independent and chain coffee stores located all across the town. Next to The Bandstand you can find a Costa Coffee and just outside The Royal Arcade is a Caffé Nero.

If you're looking for a Starbucks you can head out of the main town centre and into Broadwater, you will find one opposite The Cricketers Pub. There is also one in South Street.

If you prefer to shop local (we hope so!), you can visit The Coffee House near Barclays Bank, Cafe Continental which is next to Subway by the Bandstand and Caffe Pitti opposite The Early Learning Centre, towards the other end of town.

You could also get a coffee from St Paul's Centre during the day, which is Worthing’s largest multi-arts venue and bar.

Prefer A Tea?

If you'd prefer a cuppa, you can visit The Dome Vintage Tea Rooms and relax in Edwardian style, with views of the sea from the terrace.

The Pier, Worthing

Worthing's Pier was originally designed by Sir Robert Rawlinson in 1861.

In September 1933 the pier and all but the northern pavilion were destroyed by fire. In 1935 the remodelled Streamline Moderne/Art Moderne pier was opened, and it is this that remains today. It is now a Grade II listed building.

You can read more about the history of the pier on it's Wikipedia page.

Located at the promenade end of Worthing Pier is The Pavilion Theatre and The Denton Café.

In November 2009 during strong winds, two Worthing kite surfers became the first people to kitesurf over the pier.

Splash Point, Worthing

Splash Point is located to the East-end of Worthing's promenade. It is well designed with Tamarisk trees and an integrated water mist feature that casts rainbows through a field of boulders that were sculpted by the sea.

Goring Gap, Worthing

Goring Gap lies between Goring and Ferring, it is part of a long stretch of beach near Worthing in West Sussex. During the summer you will find a lot of wind surfers and kite surfers here.
