From April 2013, the bedroom tax will introduce new rules for people claiming housing benefit for their council or housing association homes.
There will be a limit on the number of bedrooms housing benefit will help pay for.

Worried About The Bedroom TAX?
Here’s What You Need To Know
Are you or your partner:
- Renting from a council or housing association
- Both under retirement age
- Claiming or receiving housing benefit
Housing benefit will be paid for each bedroom per each single person.
If you have any additional rooms your housing benefit will be cut by at least 14% (for one bedroom) up to 25% (for over two extra bedrooms).
This happens even if you have a disability, live with foster children, sleep separately from your partner due to illness or are separated/divorced and your children visit you.
(These changes started on the 1st of April. Make sure you’re ready)
